Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C) - Summary

Duties & Responsibilities
- Serve as a first assistant in the operating room for cardiac, thoracic, and vascular procedures, including but not limited to CABG, AVR, MVR, MV repair, Bentall procedures, aortic root work, aortic dissections, MAZE, PVI, thoracotomies, VATS, lobectomies, fem-pop, ax-fem-fem, AAA, aneurysm repair, fistula creation, and thoracic trauma cases
- Perform both endoscopic and open vessel harvest techniques
- Conduct inpatient consultations and manage post-operative ICU and floor care for patients from the perioperative period through discharge
- Oversee outpatient pre- and post-operative clinic visits, including aortic aneurysm surveillance, I & D, and wound management
- Participate in the mentorship and education of medical students rotating through the cardiothoracic surgery service
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Maintain thorough and accurate documentation in accordance with healthcare regulations and standards

Qualifications & Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Current certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C)
- Active state licensure or eligibility to obtain licensure as a Physician Assistant
- Experience in cardiothoracic or cardiovascular surgery strongly preferred
- Proficiency in surgical first assist and advanced clinical procedures
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration and patient care
