Palm Health Resources is seeking an experienced Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join a high-performing cardiac surgery group on a full-time contract basis. The role is designed for a dedicated professional with strong experience in endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) and cardiac operating room (OR) first assist procedures. As a Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C), you will play a vital role in the perioperative and intraoperative care of patients undergoing a range of cardiothoracic surgical procedures.
This is a contract position with an initial term of six months, with the possibility for extension based on ongoing needs and performance. You will work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, including two cardiac surgeons, one vascular surgeon, one thoracic surgeon, and a group of eight dedicated physician assistants. The absence of residents provides a unique environment for advanced practice providers to fully engage in all aspects of patient care and surgical support. The work schedule consists of five eight-hour shifts per week, with on-call responsibilities rotated equitably among the team.
The ideal candidate for the Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C) position will demonstrate a high level of proficiency in coronary artery bypass, aortic valve surgery, minimally invasive cardiac surgery, aortic surgery, hybrid electrophysiology (EP) procedures, and endoscopic vein harvest. While heart transplant procedures are not part of the scope, you will be expected to assist with all other cardiovascular surgeries. Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C) - Summary- Full-time contract role with an initial six-month term and potential for extension
- Work as a key member of a multidisciplinary cardiac surgery team
- Participate in a range of cardiothoracic surgical procedures, excluding heart transplants
- Engage in both intraoperative and perioperative patient management
- Collaborative, resident-free environment for advanced practice providers
- Provide first-assist support in cardiac surgery, including coronary artery bypass, aortic valve replacement, and minimally invasive procedures
- Perform endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) and open vein harvesting as needed
- Deliver perioperative patient care across ICU, step-down, and surgical floor settings
- Participate in surgical rounds, patient assessment, and care planning
- Collaborate with surgeons and other physician assistants for optimal patient outcomes
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule, including approximately one weekend per month and one weeknight every sixth night
- Document patient care and surgical activities accurately and in compliance with hospital standards

- Current certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C)
- Active and unrestricted state licensure (or ability to obtain)
- Extensive experience in cardiothoracic surgery, including first assist and EVH
- Proficiency in perioperative patient care in ICU and surgical floor environments
- Strong clinical judgment and effective communication skills
- Demonstrated excellence in cardiac surgery and endoscopic vein harvesting
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
