Working as a CTICU Nurse Practitioner, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day clinical needs of patients recovering from major cardiothoracic surgeries, heart or lung transplants, and other critical cardiac or thoracic events. Your advanced training and experience enable you to handle complex cases, perform detailed assessments, and implement evidence-based care plans in partnership with attending physicians, physician assistants, and nursing staff. Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit Nurse Practitioner (CTICU NP) - Summary
- Provides advanced nursing care for critically ill cardiothoracic patients in an intensive care setting.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including history, physical examination, and diagnostic interpretation.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to formulate and implement individualized care plans.
- Monitor and manage complex postoperative patients, including those recovering from open-heart surgery, heart transplantation, and other major cardiothoracic procedures.
- Order, interpret, and act upon diagnostic studies such as lab tests, imaging, and cardiac monitoring.
- Initiate and manage advanced therapies, including vasoactive medications, mechanical circulatory support devices, and ventilator management as appropriate to NP credentialing.
- Educate patients and families about procedures, care plans, and expectations throughout the ICU stay.
- Participate in daily rounds and care conferences to ensure coordinated care delivery and optimal outcomes.
- Document all care provided accurately and in a timely manner, maintaining compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to nursing and allied health staff within the CTICU.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Current and valid NP licensure, with prescriptive authority as required.
- Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP), Adult-Gerontology Acute Care NP (AGACNP), or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) with critical care experience preferred.
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in critical care, cardiothoracic intensive care, or a related specialty preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage high-acuity patients and perform advanced clinical procedures within scope of practice.
