The Cardiothoracic ICU Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Physician Assistant (PA-C) will play a pivotal role in the continuous, on-site cardiac critical care team, working closely with cardiac surgeons, cardiologists, and intensivists. This role offers a unique opportunity to exercise a high degree of autonomy in patient care, collaborating with top medical professionals to deliver comprehensive and effective treatment plans. The position requires a strong clinical background in cardiac and surgical critical care, as well as proficiency in a range of procedures necessary for the management of critically ill patients in the ICU.
As a valued member of the cardiac ICU team, you will be responsible for the full spectrum of patient management, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing care. The position involves day shifts, providing consistent and predictable scheduling, and does not include resident program responsibilities. You will be directly involved in the care of patients recovering from cardiac surgeries such as CABG and valve procedures, as well as those with acute cardiac conditions like myocardial infarction, cardiogenic shock, heart failure, heart blocks, and arrhythmias. There are no VAD or transplant cases, and no CVOR time is required.
The Cardiothoracic ICU Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Physician Assistant (PA-C) will demonstrate advanced technical skills by performing procedures such as arterial line placement, central line placement, and chest tube insertion. You will collaborate effectively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest standards of patient care are maintained. The role also includes developing and implementing individualized care plans, prescribing medications within scope of practice, and ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations. Active BLS and ACLS certifications are required for this position.

- Minimum two years of experience in perioperative management of cardiac surgery patients
- Minimum two years of experience with intensive care unit patients

- Ability to work autonomously while collaborating within a multidisciplinary team
