The program performs a significant number of complex cardiac surgical cases, including coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valve repairs and replacements, aortic procedures, and a substantial volume of heart and lung transplants annually. The position is structured to balance clinical responsibilities across the operating room, inpatient rounding (including ICU and step-down units), and scheduled clinic days. Cardiac Surgery Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) - Summary

Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in a variety of adult cardiac surgeries, including CABG, valve repair and replacement, and aortic procedures.
- Participate in complex adult cardiac surgical cases.
- Engage in the full surgical continuum: preoperative assessment, intraoperative care, and postoperative management.
- Provide daily ICU and step-down rounding on cardiac surgery patients.
- Balance operating room responsibilities and clinic days based on patient volume.
- Participate in a rotating call schedule, including a full weekend call every nine weeks, with additional compensation.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Active and unrestricted PA or NP license.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience assisting in cardiac and thoracic surgeries.
- Nurse Practitioner candidates must possess an RNFA (Registered Nurse First Assistant) certification.
- Strong clinical skills and ability to manage complex surgical patients across the care continuum.
