The Cardiac Surgery Physician Assistant (PA-C) will work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other allied health professionals to provide comprehensive care throughout the surgical continuum, including preoperative assessment, intraoperative assistance, and postoperative management. Cardiac Surgery Physician Assistant (PA-C) - Summary- Full-time position with a reputable cardiac surgery program
- Collaborative, multidisciplinary environment focused on innovative patient care

- Role includes clinical, surgical, and patient education responsibilities
- Assist in cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures as a first or second assist in the operating room (CVOR)
- Perform endoscopic vessel harvesting (EVH) for coronary artery bypass grafting
- Provide comprehensive inpatient care, including preoperative and postoperative management of cardiac surgery patients
- Conduct patient assessments, formulate care plans, and participate in daily rounds
- Support outpatient clinic operations, including preoperative evaluations and postoperative follow-up
- Participate in rotating night and weekend call coverage as part of the cardiac surgery team
- Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and allied health professionals to optimize patient outcomes
- Educate patients and families regarding surgical procedures, recovery processes, and ongoing care

- Current certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Licensure (or eligibility) as a Physician Assistant in the state of South Carolina
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in cardiovascular or thoracic surgery preferred
- Proficiency in endoscopic vessel harvesting (EVH) techniques
- Demonstrated knowledge of perioperative care and inpatient management of cardiac surgery patients
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to participate in rotating night and weekend call schedule
