The Cardiac Surgery Nurse Practitioner (NP) role involves rotational scheduling with clinic call responsibilities and telemedicine coverage. Cardiac Surgery Nurse Practitioner (NP) - Summary- Provide advanced nursing care for cardiothoracic surgery patients in an inpatient ICU and floor setting
- Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, and healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Utilize EPIC EMR for documentation and care coordination
- Participate in rotational scheduling and telemedicine call coverage
- Assess, diagnose, and manage pre- and post-operative cardiothoracic surgery patients
- Perform and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as needed
- Develop and implement care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team
- Educate patients and families on procedures, recovery processes, and wellness strategies
- Participate in daily rounds, case discussions, and multidisciplinary meetings
- Respond to emergencies and provide critical care interventions
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using EPIC
- Adhere to clinical protocols, hospital policies, and regulatory requirements

- Master's degree in Nursing with Nurse Practitioner certification (NP-C or AGACNP preferred)
- Active and unrestricted registered nurse and nurse practitioner licenses
- Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Previous experience in cardiothoracic surgery, ICU, or critical care preferred
- Strong clinical assessment, decision-making, and communication skills
- Proficiency with EPIC or similar EMR systems beneficial
- Demonstrates passion for cardiothoracic surgery and critical care
