Cardiac Surgery First Assist NP/PA - Summary

Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide first assist support during cardiac surgical procedures in the operating room
- Demonstrate proficiency in Endoscopic Vessel Harvesting (EVH); radial artery harvest skills are preferred, with training available for new employees
- Participate in preoperative and postoperative patient assessments and care coordination
- Manage intraoperative tasks, including hemostasis, tissue handling, and wound closure under the supervision of the attending surgeon
- Engage in call rotation coverage during evenings and weekends as part of the surgical team
- Support surgical documentation and assist in maintaining compliance with clinical protocols
- Ensure all clinical practices adhere to regulatory, hospital, and departmental standards

Qualifications & Requirements
- Graduation from a nationally accredited Physician Assistant (PA) or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) program
- Current or eligible PA/NP state license in Missouri
- Experience in cardiac operating room first assist roles preferred; new graduates with interest in cardiac surgery are welcome to apply
- Proficiency in Endoscopic Vessel Harvesting (EVH) required; experience in radial artery harvest is desirable, with training available
- Ability to work flexible schedules including four 10-hour days per week, with participation in call rotations
