Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive evaluation and management for patients undergoing cardiac surgery in an outpatient setting.
- Conduct thorough preoperative assessments and postoperative follow-up visits, ensuring optimal patient recovery and continuity of care.
- Deliver patient education, including guidance on surgical procedures, recovery timelines, and ongoing cardiac health management.
- Coordinate care across multidisciplinary teams, collaborating closely with cardiac surgeons, other advanced practice providers, nurses, and administrative staff.
- Monitor patient progress, identify potential complications, and intervene early to optimize surgical outcomes.
- Perform minor postoperative procedures as indicated and within the provider’s scope of practice.
- Document patient interactions, care plans, and follow-up recommendations accurately and in a timely manner.
- Participate in team meetings and case discussions to contribute to quality improvement initiatives and best practices in cardiac surgery care.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA).
- Active state license required for practice.
- Current CDS (Controlled Dangerous Substances) and DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) certifications required.
- Demonstrated experience in cardiac surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, cardiovascular surgery, or a closely related surgical field is preferred.
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and procedural skills relevant to outpatient cardiac surgery care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively educate patients and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
