Cardiac Operating Room Registered Nurse (CVOR RN) – Summary
- Provide direct and indirect perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing cardiac and general surgical procedures.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and healthcare teams to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care.
- Lead and mentor OR Technicians and support staff, promoting adherence to best practices and professional standards.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement and comply with hospital policies and regulatory guidelines.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans for complex surgical cases.
- Coordinate patient flow and maintain unit organization to ensure efficient operations throughout the perioperative continuum.
- Demonstrate leadership by providing direction and support to OR Technicians and auxiliary staff, upholding high standards of clinical practice.
- Adhere to infection control protocols, safety regulations, and hospital policies at all times.
- Engage in Performance Improvement (PI) activities, unit in-services, and ongoing professional development.
- Fulfill mandatory on-call requirements, including weekday and rotating weekend call, with the ability to report to the facility within 30 minutes when called in.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum of one year prior perioperative nursing experience; Pre/Post-Op experience is highly valued.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS – AHA) certification at time of hire.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS – AHA) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS – AHA) certifications required within 30 days of hire.
- Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) via AORN preferred.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
- Ability to respond to on-call requirements, including reporting to the facility within 30 minutes when called in.
