As a Cardiac Nurse Practitioner (NP) on the Step Down Unit, your primary focus will be on floor-based patient care, conducting daily rounds on post-operative and step-down cardiothoracic surgical patients. Cardiac Nurse Practitioner (NP) – Step Down Unit Summary

Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive daily rounds on post-operative and step-down cardiothoracic surgical patients
- Conduct in-depth histories and physical examinations
- Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic tests and laboratory results
- Assist with perioperative management, including chest tube care, wound management, and hemodynamic monitoring
- Formulate and implement evidence-based care plans in collaboration with attending physicians
- Coordinate patient transitions of care, including discharge planning and providing detailed summaries
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding clinical status, treatment plans, and expectations
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, quality initiatives, and patient safety programs
- Serve as a clinical resource for nursing staff and allied health professionals
- Support the education of students, residents, and new staff members as appropriate

Qualifications & Requirements
- Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) with prescriptive authority
- Certification in Adult/Gerontology Acute Care, Family Nurse Practitioner, or equivalent (ACNP, FNP, etc.) preferred
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
- Experience in cardiothoracic or step-down unit preferred
- Strong clinical assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills
