The Cardiac Cath Lab RN is a specialized nursing professional who provides direct care for patients undergoing procedures in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Interventional Radiology (IR) settings. In this full-time opportunity, the Cardiac Cath Lab RN serves as the primary point of contact for patients throughout their cardiac or interventional radiology procedure. This position requires a current, active Registered Nurse license issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR), as well as Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. A minimum of 12 years of cumulative, job-specific nursing experience is essential for success in this advanced clinical role, with prior experience in Cardiac Cath Lab or Interventional Radiology strongly preferred. The Cardiac Cath Lab RN will work collaboratively with physicians, technologists, and fellow nurses to ensure a seamless and safe patient experience, from admission through discharge planning.
As part of the Cardiac Cath Lab RN team, you will be responsible for maintaining high standards of patient care. This includes implementing and monitoring comprehensive patient care plans, executing physician and nursing orders accurately, and continuously assessing patient conditions throughout procedures. The RN will coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to address complex discharge planning needs and support patients through critical transitions in care. The nature of this role requires flexibility and dedication, as the Cardiac Cath Lab RN will cover every third weekend and complete at least 16 on-call shifts per six-week period to provide essential support for Operating Room and Interventional Radiology cases.
