Cardiac Anesthesiologist (MD/DO) - Summary
- Deliver comprehensive anesthesia care for cardiac surgical patients in a high-volume heart center.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including cardiac surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain strict adherence to clinical protocols and patient safety standards.
- Utilize advanced monitoring, techniques, and equipment specific to cardiac anesthesia.
- Participate in ongoing education and quality improvement initiatives within the department.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide anesthesia for a wide range of cardiac surgical procedures, including both routine and complex cases.
- Assess, evaluate, and optimize patients preoperatively to ensure suitability for anesthesia.
- Implement and manage intraoperative monitoring, including invasive hemodynamic monitoring and transesophageal echocardiography as required.
- Ensure smooth induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia tailored to each patient’s needs.
- Respond rapidly to intraoperative changes in patient status, using advanced skills and judgment.
- Participate in an equitable call schedule, including in-house overnight coverage with post-call day off.
- Work efficiently in a large operating room environment, collaborating with surgical and nursing staff.
- Complete all required documentation and participate in credentialing processes as necessary.
- Maintain professional development and, if applicable, ECMO certification or related experience.
- Focus exclusively on physician anesthesia care (no CRNA supervision required).

Qualifications & Requirements
- Medical degree (MD or DO) and completion of an accredited Anesthesiology residency program.
- Board certification or eligibility in Anesthesiology.
- Fellowship training in Cardiac Anesthesiology preferred.
- Current, unrestricted medical license or eligibility to obtain one.
- Experience and/or certification in ECMO preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Ability to complete credentialing within 2-3 weeks.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
