The Business Development Manager will take ownership of the business development pipeline, collaborating closely with project managers and technical leads to maintain and expand relationships with both existing and prospective customers. You will be responsible for overseeing capture management activities, from opportunity identification through proposal development and submission. This role requires a strong understanding of the Department of Defense (DoD) landscape, including program management offices, acquisition processes, and customer requirements. The successful candidate will also play an integral part in corporate marketing strategies, including trade show planning and execution, ensuring alignment with Invariant’s capabilities and market trends.

Business Development Manager - Summary
- Lead business development and capture management activities to secure new business opportunities.
- Collaborate with technical leads and executive teams to support corporate growth initiatives.
- Maintain and update the business development pipeline in coordination with project managers.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain and update the business development pipeline for both existing and new customers, including participating in regular meetings with project managers and technical leads.
- Identify and qualify new business opportunities, assess viability, and develop win strategies to increase the company’s competitive edge.
- Lead capture management activities, including proposal strategy, team building, and overseeing the development and submission of proposals.
- Establish and manage relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring a deep understanding of customer needs and competitive dynamics.
- Contribute to the development and execution of corporate marketing strategies, with a focus on trade show planning and implementation, both domestically and internationally.
- Monitor current technological capabilities and align future offerings with customer requirements and evolving market trends.
- Coordinate with executive leadership to ensure business development activities are aligned with overall company goals.
- Travel to customer locations, conferences, and meetings as required, up to 25% of the time.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a technical or engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of business development experience with Department of Defense customers.
- Experience working with DoD Program Management Offices and familiarity with the Defense Acquisition Process for Programs of Record or Urgent Capability Acquisition.
- Demonstrated success with capture management activities, including understanding customer requirements, win probability assessments, team building, and proposal development.
- Active Secret Clearance is required.

- Possesses a bachelor's degree in engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
- Experience with foreign military sales is highly valued.
- Knowledge of government budgeting and acquisition processes.
- Holds Defense Acquisition Training and/or Project Management Professional Certification.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong customer and partner relationships.

- This position will be based in Alabama with expectations for up to 25% travel.
