Building Automation Technician - Summary
- Diagnoses, evaluates, tests, calibrates, and repairs building automation systems within commercial properties.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with building automation and control systems.
- Evaluate, test, calibrate, and repair various automation system components.
- Integrate low voltage building sub-systems using industry-standard protocols such as LON and BacNet.
- Train building owners and users on system operation and maintenance.
- Document service findings and communicate effectively with customers and coworkers.
- Maintain a high level of technical knowledge regarding HVAC, fire alarms, and related building subsystems.
- Manage multiple service calls and prioritize tasks to meet customer and business needs.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and company procedures.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or Information Technology is required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of two years’ experience with mechanical and/or electrical engineering systems.
- Knowledge of construction or HVAC industry, control theory, automatic temperature controls, fire alarms, and building automation systems.
- Experience integrating low voltage sub-systems using protocols like LON and BacNet.
- Understanding of HVAC&R theory, and strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills are advantageous.
- OSHA 10-hour certification required or ability to obtain; OSHA 30-hour certification is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and use of handheld devices such as smartphones and tablets.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and team members.
- Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
