Building Automation Systems Technician (BAS Technician) - Summary
- Respond promptly to service calls and maintenance requests for building automation systems.
- Conduct semi-complex maintenance tests and thorough analysis of existing BAS systems, ensuring optimal function and compliance with industry standards.
- Advise service coordinators, fellow technicians, and external providers on the best solutions to address and resolve identified issues.
- Interpret mechanical drawings and system schematics to support effective troubleshooting and repairs.
- Configure, calibrate, and test sensors, actuators, and other field devices to maintain system reliability.
- Load, test, and confirm robust communication among BAS controllers and connected devices.
- Perform comprehensive system check-out, commissioning, and accurately document results for future reference and compliance.
- Assist lead technicians during owner training sessions, ensuring clients understand their systems and can effectively operate them.
- Cultivate and maintain strong customer relationships to enhance business prospects and ensure high levels of satisfaction.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Handle incoming service calls and prioritize tasks for efficient resolution of BAS issues.
- Conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tests on BAS components.
- Analyze, diagnose, and resolve technical problems involving BAS, including Schneider Electric, SmartStruxure, I/A, Andover Continuum, and Tridium Niagara R2/AX/N4 systems.
- Advise and collaborate with internal and external teams on technical matters and recommended solutions.
- Interpret and utilize mechanical and electrical drawings during troubleshooting and installations.
- Configure and calibrate a variety of BAS field devices, including sensors and actuators.
- Load, test, and verify communication protocols among controllers, ensuring system integration and functionality.
- Document all work performed, including system check-out, commissioning, and owner training activities.
- Participate in owner training sessions alongside lead technicians, supporting effective knowledge transfer.
- Develop and foster positive relationships with customers to ensure ongoing satisfaction and repeat business.

Qualifications & Requirements
- At least one (1) year of experience working with Building Automation Control Systems, particularly Schneider Electric, SmartStruxure, I/A, Andover Continuum, or Tridium Niagara R2/AX/N4.
- Experience with BAS protocols such as LON, BACnet, ModBus, and Metasys is required.
- Familiarity with basic Ethernet networking, including IP address setup and network communication.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and strong overall computer skills.
- Solid troubleshooting experience with building automation and control systems.
- Basic low-voltage electrical testing abilities.
- Authorization to work in the United States is mandatory.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively, with a valid driver’s license.
- Preferred: Associate degree or 1-2 years of vocational technical training in a related field.
