Building Automation Programmer - Summary

Duties & Responsibilities
- Design, program, and commission control sequences for building automation systems (BAS), focusing on HVAC controls.
- Develop and maintain software applications that interface with building management systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to automation, controls, and system integration.
- Work collaboratively with engineers, project managers, and technicians to deliver project objectives.
- Maintain accurate documentation of programming, system configurations, and modifications.
- Follow established procedures and guidelines to ensure the reliability and performance of automation systems.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of one (1) year of relevant work experience in fields such as robotics, PLC, machining, or software; or three (3) years in graphic design.
- Basic understanding of HVAC systems and controls is essential.
- Experience with programming languages or scripting (e.g., JavaScript, Python, or similar).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting and follow instructions under supervision, gaining independence with experience.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ideal Candidate Snapshot
- Previous experience as an HVAC controls technician or programmer is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Schneider Electric EcoStruxure Building Operation, I/A Series, Andover Continuum, and/or Tridium Niagara R2/AX/N4 systems.
- Certifications such as EcoStruxure Building Operation Certification are advantageous.
- Experience with building automation protocols, including LON, BACnet, and Modbus.
- An associate's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, graphic design, or a related field preferred.
