The Building Automation Controls Engineer plays a critical role in designing, developing, and supporting advanced HVAC control systems for modern facilities. As a Building Automation Controls Engineer, you will leverage your technical expertise to provide engineered drawings and detailed schematics for HVAC control systems. Your responsibilities will include reviewing project specifications and contract drawings, ensuring that all designs meet stringent quality standards and client requirements. Utilizing industry-standard tools such as Visio, you will create accurate and comprehensive control system drawings, helping clients achieve optimal efficiency and performance in their building automation projects.
This Building Automation Controls Engineer position requires proficiency in sizing control valves, dampers, air flow stations, and related HVAC components. Your experience with Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems—particularly with platforms like Schneider Electric and Tridium—will ensure the seamless integration of various subsystems. You will also be responsible for writing and interpreting sequences of operations for HVAC control systems, assembling submittals, and preparing operations and maintenance (O&M) documentation for assigned projects. Building Automation Controls Engineer - Summary
- Designs and develops engineered drawings and schematics for HVAC control systems.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide engineered drawings and detailed schematics for HVAC controls using Visio and related software.
- Review and interpret project specifications and contract documents to ensure compliance with client needs.
- Size and specify control valves, dampers, air flow stations, and other system components for optimal performance.
- Design and configure DDC control systems utilizing standard platforms such as Schneider Electric, Tridium, or equivalent.
- Develop and document sequences of operations for HVAC control systems.
- Assemble comprehensive submittals and operations & maintenance manuals for project stakeholders.
- Collaborate with project managers, technicians, and other engineering staff to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment, balancing priorities and ensuring deadlines are met.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM field.
- 1-3 years of experience in a relevant engineering or controls field.
- At least 2 years of experience in controls design engineering or 5+ years' experience as a controls technician.
- Strong knowledge of electrical circuits, HVAC systems, and building automation controls.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite and familiarity with design tools such as Visio.
- Ability to handle a high volume of work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in a related STEM field with relevant experience.
