Billing Analyst - Summary
- Responsible for managing and executing billing operations, ensuring accurate and timely customer transactions.
- Acts as a subject matter expert for transaction and billing inquiries within the energy sector.
- Utilizes strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify, investigate, and resolve billing exceptions.
- Maintains clear process documentation and provides training and guidance to colleagues as needed.
- Collaborates with various stakeholders to support ongoing projects and implement regulatory changes.
- Contributes to customer satisfaction and operational excellence through diligent account management and process improvement.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop a thorough understanding of the electricity and gas customer lifecycle, from contract initiation through final account processing.
- Process daily operational tasks and electronic transactions in customer management systems, working with vendors and utilities.
- Monitor, investigate, and resolve transaction and billing exceptions within established service level agreements (SLAs); escalate issues promptly when necessary.
- Apply reporting and analytical tools such as Excel, SQL, and Power BI to identify issues and ensure compliance with internal and external requirements.
- Conduct root cause analysis to address exceptions, errors, and process gaps; recommend and implement fixes for continuous improvement.
- Research and analyze complex business problems using specialized software and knowledge of the retail energy market.
- Support the execution of new business initiatives and regulatory requirements as needed by the organization.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for transaction and billing questions from internal and external stakeholders.
- Create and maintain comprehensive process documentation for use in training and reference, delivering training to colleagues as required.
- Collaborate with internal teams, management, external vendors, and utilities to resolve issues and support ongoing projects.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university is required.
- 2-4 years of experience in operations, back-office, or a related field is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Demonstrated analytical and mathematical skills, with comfort working with large datasets.
- Ability to solve complex problems independently and make sound, data-driven decisions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration within teams and with external partners.
