Billing Analyst - Summary
- Responsible for the timely and accurate processing of customer transactions and monthly billing cycles.
- Acts as a key liaison between internal teams, external vendors, and utility companies.
- Utilizes advanced data tools and analytical skills to support billing operations and process improvements.
- Ensures compliance with all regulatory and internal service-level agreements (SLAs).

Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the energy customer lifecycle, including contract setup, account maintenance, and final account processing.
- Operate within customer management systems to execute daily operational tasks and manage electronic transactions with vendors and utilities.
- Monitor, investigate, and resolve transaction and billing exceptions within established SLAs, escalating issues when necessary.
- Use reporting tools such as Excel and Power BI to analyze data, identify issues, and uphold compliance requirements.
- Perform root cause analysis to address exceptions, process gaps, and errors, recommending and implementing corrective actions.
- Research and resolve complex business problems with the aid of relevant software and industry knowledge.
- Support the implementation of new business processes and regulatory requirements as they arise.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for transaction and billing inquiries, providing guidance to both colleagues and clients.
- Create and maintain comprehensive process documentation for training and reference purposes.
- Deliver training to team members as required, fostering continuous professional development.
- Collaborate across departments and with external partners to resolve issues and advance projects.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- 2-4 years of experience in operations, billing, or back-office roles, preferably within the energy or utilities sector.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities with comfort working with large datasets.
- Ability to independently resolve complex challenges and make informed decisions.
- Preferred: Degree in business or related field; experience in the deregulated energy market; prior energy/utility industry experience; proficiency with SharePoint, Power BI, and SQL Server Management Studio.
