Behavioral Health Medical Director (MD, Psychiatry) - Summary
- Serve as the primary clinical leader overseeing behavioral health service operations.
- Direct the Psychiatry Residency Program, ensuring compliance and educational excellence.
- Collaborate with executive and clinical teams to achieve operational and strategic goals.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, education, and high-quality patient care.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all aspects of the Behavioral Health Program, including operations, quality assurance, and staffing.
- Conduct regular meetings with operations, administration, and clinical staff to address issues, set performance goals, and monitor outcomes.
- Oversee provider scheduling to maintain adequate clinical coverage and continuity of care.
- Guide and evaluate quality improvement initiatives, budget planning, and compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Participate in strategic planning, marketing, and financial management of behavioral health services.
- Act as the primary medical leader for physicians within the program, including performance evaluations and, if needed, disciplinary actions.
- Coordinate with billing and compliance teams to ensure proper coding and provider education.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and team-oriented work environment, emphasizing patient-centered care.
- Direct the Psychiatry Residency Program, ensuring full ACGME accreditation and high standards of academic performance.
- Recruit, supervise, and develop both faculty and residents, supporting their professional growth and achievement of ABPN certification requirements.
- Oversee curriculum development, rotation scheduling, and educational content in collaboration with affiliated academic institutions.
- Maintain compliance with all relevant accrediting and regulatory requirements.
- Manage program budgeting, strategic initiatives, and ongoing quality improvement projects.
- Provide direct patient care, serve as a preceptor, and teach to model clinical excellence for faculty and residents.
- Encourage and support research initiatives and scholarly activity within the department.
- Maintain board certification and clinical competency in Psychiatry.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree with board certification in Psychiatry (ABPN).
- Unrestricted medical license in the relevant state.
- Extensive experience in behavioral health clinical care and program administration.
- Experience in graduate medical education leadership, preferably as a program director or equivalent role.
- Strong knowledge of ACGME accreditation standards and healthcare compliance regulations.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
