Associate Veterinarian (DVM) Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Associate Veterinarian (DVM) to join our growing veterinary team in Tucson, AZ. This is a full-time position designed for veterinarians who are committed to providing high-quality medical care for companion animals while fostering positive relationships with pet owners. As an essential member of our veterinary clinic, you will work alongside a full support staff, including veterinary technicians, assistants, and a Medical Director who is available for mentorship and guidance in both medical and surgical areas.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, treat, and manage a variety of animal health concerns with professionalism and accuracy.
- Perform medical examinations, develop treatment plans, and maintain detailed patient records.
- Conduct or assist in routine and complex surgical procedures, with mentorship from the Medical Director available as needed.
- Educate pet owners on preventative care, nutrition, wellness, and post-treatment instructions to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Manage a daily caseload of approximately 15-20 patients, ensuring efficient and compassionate care.
- Collaborate with a team of veterinary professionals, including veterinary technicians, assistants, and kennel staff, to provide seamless care and support for all patients.
- Participate in rotating Saturday shifts and flexible scheduling options, including four 10-hour shifts or five 8-hour shifts, to support clinic operations and work-life balance.
- Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including up-to-date licensing and DEA requirements.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid Arizona veterinary license (or eligibility to obtain).
- DEA registration or ability to obtain.
- Willingness to perform and learn new surgical procedures, with mentorship provided for less experienced candidates.
- At least one year of experience in a clinical veterinary setting is preferred; however, new graduates with a strong commitment to learning and professional growth are encouraged to apply.
