Associate Medical Director (MD/DO) – Summary
- Leads and manages multiple healthcare centers, directly supervising Clinical Directors and clinical staff
- Combines clinical practice (as a PCP) with strategic and operational leadership
- Drives center performance, clinical outcomes, and culture in alignment with organizational goals
- Plays a key role in talent development, mentoring, and coaching of clinicians
- Supports a patient population primarily consisting of seniors with multiple chronic diseases
Duties & Responsibilities
- Direct accountability for clinical outcomes and day-to-day management of Medical Directors in multiple centers
- Ensures successful clinical operations and achievement of market goals
- Manages, mentors, and coaches Medical Directors and clinical staff to deliver outstanding patient care
- Facilitates talent development, including leading practice observation, conducting regular 1:1 meetings, and implementing leadership development plans
- Promotes a positive physician culture, aligned with core values and service standards
- Assists in the training and onboarding of new practitioners
- Participates in recruitment and interviewing of PCPs and specialists
- Supports clinical talent lifecycle management, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, and development
- Establishes and maintains relationships with payers, specialists, community organizations, and hospitals
- Monitors and responds to workplace culture and concerns with urgency
- Reviews and approves clinical referrals and provides backup for market utilization authorizations
- Assists with quality and performance improvement initiatives as needed
- Oversees clinical metric analysis, monthly scorecard reviews, and cost-reduction strategies
- Delivers patient care as a Primary Care Physician (PCP) for a small patient panel
- Performs additional duties as assigned by leadership

Qualifications & Requirements
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, or similar specialty
- Current, active license to practice medicine
- Minimum 2 years clinical experience (3 years preferred)
- Previous leadership experience as a Medical Director or equivalent (Medicare or Medicaid patient population preferred)
- Board eligibility required; board certification in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, or similar preferred
- Experience in managed care delivery systems and value-based care models
- Proven track record in clinical leadership and population health management
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Ability to travel locally and regionally as needed
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and Microsoft Office Suite
