Assistant Project Manager – Mechanical Construction (APM) Summary
- Support the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and supervising mechanical construction projects.
- Ensure project safety, quality control, and adherence to schedule and budget.
- Facilitate communication between field personnel, subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
- Assist with procurement, documentation, change order management, and financial tracking.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee safety programs for field personnel and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety regulations.
- Monitor field labor productivity and implement measures to optimize efficiency.
- Manage project quality assurance and coordinate inspections as required.
- Prepare and review project financial projections, cost reports, and progress documentation.
- Assist with material and equipment procurement, including vendor negotiation and purchase order management.
- Process and track change orders, ensuring timely communication with clients and project stakeholders.
- Foster positive owner/client relations through regular updates and meetings.
- Support project cash flow management and billing processes.
- Coordinate project schedules, workforce assignments, and on-site logistics.
- Maintain detailed project records, documentation, and technical data in accordance with company protocols.

Qualifications & Requirements
- 5-7 years of construction work-related experience, preferably in mechanical construction.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project, Access, PowerPoint).
- Experience with Bluebeam Revu PDF editing, Vista-Viewpoint, and Quotesoft Estimating Software is highly desirable.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
- Demonstrated competency in basic business mathematics and project documentation.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to archive technical data.
- Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
