The Assistant Project Manager – Mechanical Construction (APM) plays a vital role in supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of mechanical construction projects. This full-time position in San Diego, CA, is designed for professionals who excel in fast-paced environments and have a strong background in construction management or mechanical engineering. The APM works closely with project managers, field personnel, and stakeholders to ensure all aspects of project delivery align with company standards and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the safety and productivity of field personnel assigned to mechanical construction projects.
- Assist with project quality assurance, ensuring all work meets specified standards and regulations.
- Coordinate project activities, materials, and equipment procurement to maintain project timelines.
- Monitor and report on project financials, including projections, cash flow, and cost management.
- Facilitate effective change order management, documenting and tracking all changes throughout the project lifecycle.
- Maintain positive owner and client relations, addressing inquiries and ensuring satisfaction with project progress.
- Support personnel management through effective communication and adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Ensure all projects comply with internal operating policies, executed plans, and programs.
Qualifications
- 5-7 years of construction-related work experience, preferably in mechanical construction.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management is preferred.
- Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project, Access, PowerPoint), Bluebeam Revu PDF editing, Vista-Viewpoint (Project Management & Accounting Software), and Quotesoft Estimating Software.
- Ability to perform basic business mathematics and interpret instructions in various forms (written, oral, diagram, or schedule).
- Excellent organizational skills for handling and archiving technical data.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage time and project details effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to comply with all operating policies, procedures, plans, and programs.
