Assistant General Manager Overview
The Assistant General Manager plays a vital leadership role in the success of a fast-paced, casual dining restaurant. This position is responsible for supporting the General Manager in all aspects of restaurant operations, with a strong focus on delivering outstanding guest experiences, optimizing team performance, and driving business growth. As an Assistant General Manager, you will work closely with your team to ensure that every guest enjoys high-quality food and service in a welcoming environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the General Manager to supervise daily restaurant operations, including managing staff, overseeing customer service standards, and maintaining food and beverage quality.
- Participate in recruiting, hiring, training, and development of restaurant team members. Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative work culture that encourages personal and professional growth.
- Ensure compliance with all local health department regulations, maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety throughout the restaurant.
- Assist with inventory management by monitoring stock levels, placing orders for supplies and ingredients, and controlling costs to achieve financial goals.
- Implement and uphold operational policies and procedures to maximize efficiency, including managing table turnover, coordinating timely food preparation, and overseeing shift transitions.
- Monitor guest feedback and respond promptly to customer concerns or complaints, always seeking to exceed guest expectations and ensure satisfaction.
- Analyze financial reports, budgets, and forecasts in partnership with the General Manager, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.
Qualifications
- At least two years of experience in an Assistant General Manager role within the casual dining or full-service restaurant industry is required.
- Demonstrated leadership and team-building abilities, with a proven track record of motivating, coaching, and managing diverse teams.
- Exceptional customer service skills, with a dedication to creating memorable dining experiences for all guests.
- Comprehensive understanding of restaurant operations, including food and beverage preparation, inventory control, and basic financial analysis.
- Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making capabilities, with experience in achieving business objectives and driving results.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to interact effectively with guests, team members, and management.
- Proficiency with restaurant management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required in the restaurant industry.
