Assembly Technician - Summary
The Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling mechanical parts and subassemblies, forming complete units based on technical drawings, specialized tools, and written instructions. This role requires careful reassembly or reworking of units as necessary to ensure compliance with quality standards. The Assembly Technician contributes to the successful operation of the production line by maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and safety in all tasks performed. Duties & Responsibilities
- Assemble and test mechanical components, including check valves, in accordance with blueprints and Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP).
- Interpret technical drawings and written instructions to ensure accurate assembly and compliance with specifications.
- Conduct seat preparations, such as burnishing, coining, and cleaning, following applicable work instructions with minimal supervision.
- Install internal components using appropriate tools, including arbor presses and specialized fixtures.
- Set up and operate manual and pneumatic automators, as well as drill presses, for specific assembly tasks like swedging and crimping.
- Swedge fitting ends to specified angles or rolls, ensuring a secure and accurate fit.
- Lock-wire and torque-seal parts according to safety and quality guidelines.
- Utilize and maintain all hand tools and workstations in clean, functional condition.
- Monitor and report defective parts, initiating rework as directed by supervisors.
- Read and record pressure gauge data to meet ATP and quality requirements.
- Prepare and complete buy-off paperwork and document all necessary information in the ERP system.
- Follow daily dispatch reports and process jobs through the inventory/ERP software.
- Actively seek and document process improvement ideas to enhance departmental efficiency and lean operations.
- Properly handle and dispose of chemicals used during assembly tasks according to safety protocols.
- Maintain safety standards and use required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Keep workstations and test equipment clean and free from unnecessary debris to ensure a safe work environment.
- Notify supervisors of any equipment needing repair or maintenance.
- Strive to maintain a 100% quality rating with less than 0.1% component rejection due to technician error.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support the team and business objectives.

Qualifications & Requirements
- High School diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate required.
- Three to six months of related experience or training in an assembly or manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow technical documents, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Proficient in basic math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using American units of measurement.
- Demonstrated ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, verbal, or diagram form.
- Basic computer skills with experience in Windows and internet browsers.
- Familiarity with ERP or inventory management systems is a plus.
- Good verbal and written communication skills; able to interact effectively with team members and supervisors.
- Physical ability to stand, sit, walk, handle objects, talk/hear, and lift/push/pull up to 10 lbs frequently; occasionally up to 25 lbs; rare handling of heavier weights.
- Vision requirements include frequent close vision and occasional distance, color, peripheral vision, and focus adjustments.
