The AI Engineer plays a pivotal role in architecting and implementing advanced artificial intelligence solutions at the enterprise level. As an AI Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining robust GenAI infrastructure that empowers multiple teams to innovate securely and efficiently within the broader AI and machine learning ecosystem. In this dynamic environment, the AI Engineer will lead the development of a centralized LLM Gateway, which serves as the primary API layer for application teams. This involves the design and implementation of mediation pipelines that manage prompt cleansing, personally identifiable information (PII) detection, masking, guardrails, linting, throttling, and quota enforcement. You will build controls and systems that ensure compliance with governance and security policies, supporting the safe and effective use of LLMs throughout the organization. Additionally, the AI Engineer will develop integration capabilities for retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and shared vector databases, using state-of-the-art methods to support diverse enterprise use cases.
Expertise in distributed systems, formal methods, and scalable backend system design is essential for this role. The AI Engineer must possess strong hands-on experience with vector databases and embedding models, as well as knowledge of information retrieval techniques such as dense retrieval, semantic search, filtering, and hybrid approaches. - Master’s degree (preferred) or Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field.
- Extensive experience in LLM integration, GenAI system design, and prompt/response mediation.
- Hands-on experience with vector databases such as Pinecone, Weaviate, Milvus, FAISS, Vespa, or pgvector, and embedding models.
- Expertise in information retrieval: dense retrieval, semantic search, filtering, and hybrid approaches.
- Proven experience in building distributed, high-scale backend systems with strict governance and security requirements.
