Based in Seattle, WA, this position offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic operational accounting team, collaborating closely with project accountants and project teams. The primary focus of the Accounts Payable Specialist – Construction is to process subcontractor payables and ensure all payments align with contractual and company requirements, supporting the continued success of complex construction projects.
Key Responsibilities- Review subcontractor applications, lien releases, and supplier affidavits to confirm accuracy and compliance with billing requirements.
- Communicate with subcontractors to address missing or non-compliant billing documents and requirements.
- Coordinate and follow up with project managers and subcontractors throughout the payment process, ensuring timely completion of all stages.
- Process and maintain subcontract documents, utilizing and organizing an electronic filing system for efficient record management.
- Verify prevailing wage requirements for subcontractors when applicable, ensuring compliance with regulations and project specifications.
- Review and update subcontract agreements and change orders for accuracy, making necessary updates in the accounting system to reflect changes.
- Execute job cost transfers for materials, equipment, and other related costs to appropriate accounts.
- Gather and compile documentation and invoices for monthly owner substantiation, supporting transparent project financials.
- Experience in general accounting administration, with a preference for candidates with a background in construction accounting.
- Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills, essential for effective collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
- Ability to work independently, exercise initiative, prioritize tasks, and manage projects through to completion.
- Exceptional attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
