Vice President of Education Job Overview
The Vice President of Education plays a crucial leadership role in advancing the mission of supporting children and families through high-quality, equitable education and early childhood development programs. As the Vice President of Education, you will provide strategic oversight for a range of education and child development initiatives, including key programs such as Thrive to Five, Parents as Teachers, and First 10. This full-time position is responsible for ensuring that all programs foster the mental, social, and emotional growth of young children, promote school readiness, and empower parents and caregivers through individualized guidance and support. Key Responsibilities
- Champion a vision for delivering high-quality, equitable services for children and families that aligns with the organization’s mission and values.
- Foster an organizational culture focused on open communication, collaboration, and professional development for team members.
- Engage regularly with families, staff, and community partners through site visits and organized events to ensure program success and alignment with community needs.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a dynamic team of professionals through coaching, feedback, and reflective supervision, ensuring a supportive and growth-oriented work environment.
- Oversee education programming across the organization, maintaining compliance with grant requirements and budgetary guidelines.
- Collaborate with senior leadership on personnel matters and stay informed about federal, state, and local policies impacting education programs.
- Drive innovation in programming and services to enhance outcomes for children and families served by the organization.
- Ensure that all education initiatives are aligned with the agency’s mission, overall strategy, and core values.
- Implement continuous improvement strategies alongside senior leadership to foster ongoing success and positive outcomes across all programs.
- Serve as a liaison to state and federal partners, representing the organization in coalitions and advocacy efforts to strengthen the impact of education programs.
- Conduct outreach and public speaking engagements to increase program visibility and build relationships within the community.
- Respond promptly and professionally to requests from funders, community members, and partners, demonstrating agility and effective communication skills.
- Lead strategic planning efforts for the education impact team, ensuring alignment with broader organizational goals and priorities.
- Promote a culture of excellent customer service and innovative problem-solving, empowering staff to address challenges creatively and effectively.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 7-10 years of experience in nonprofit, human services, or governmental program management.
- Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in an education or related setting.
- Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable families and a strong understanding of community services.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to excel in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 or similar productivity software.
- Preferred: Master’s degree in Education, Early Childhood, Social Work, Public Policy/Administration, or a related field.
- Preferred: Expertise in early childhood development and supporting parents and caregivers through comprehensive service delivery.
