The Vice President, Commercial Auto Claims will play a pivotal role in shaping the direction of the claims department, fostering a high-performance culture, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the strategic management and daily operations of the commercial auto claims function, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and best-in-class outcomes.
- Implement and refine best practices, workflows, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement and operational efficiency within the claims department.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment by mentoring department leaders, supporting professional growth, and empowering teams to achieve high performance.
- Analyze and monitor loss trends, reserves, and claims expenses, applying data-driven insights to guide decision-making and optimize financial performance.
- Ensure strict adherence to state and federal claims regulations, including compliance with the Unfair Claims Practices Act and other relevant legal requirements.
- Serve as the escalation point for complex and high-exposure claims, providing oversight and direction for significant loss scenarios.
- Manage budgets and resource allocation, aligning claims operations with broader corporate goals for growth and customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance business processes, support organizational initiatives, and deliver exceptional service to clients and stakeholders.
- Lead ongoing technical and regulatory training efforts for claims professionals, ensuring the team remains current on industry developments and compliance standards.
- Maintain, review, and update policies, procedures, and internal controls to support quality claims outcomes and mitigate risk.
Key Qualifications
- Demonstrated success in leading and scaling high-performing claims operations within the commercial auto insurance sector.
- Comprehensive understanding of commercial auto insurance products, industry practices, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in utilizing claims management systems and analytics tools to support operational excellence and informed decision-making.
- Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills with a proven executive presence.
Requirements
- Minimum of six years of progressive experience in claims management.
- At least five years of senior-level management experience specifically in commercial auto claims.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required; advanced degree preferred.
- Industry-recognized certifications such as AIC (Associate in Claims), CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter), or equivalent are highly valued.
