Invariant is seeking a highly qualified Test Engineering Lead to drive critical testing initiatives for hardware development programs supporting the Department of Defense. This full-time opportunity involves managing and executing comprehensive test programs, ensuring all hardware meets stringent military standards such as MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461. The Test Engineering Lead will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, technicians, government stakeholders, and contractors, to guarantee rigorous testing and full compliance with all relevant requirements. Test Engineering Lead - SummaryAs a Test Engineering Lead with Invariant, you will play a pivotal role in the planning, execution, and documentation of qualification and acceptance testing for advanced military hardware systems. You will be accountable for developing test strategies, overseeing test execution, and ensuring deliverables align with contractual and regulatory standards. Duties & Responsibilities- Develop and manage comprehensive Test Program Plan documents tailored to project and contractual requirements.
- Lead the planning, procedure development, and execution of environmental and EMI/EMC tests in accordance with MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461.
- Support government test labs during specialized tests, including HERO (Hazards of Electromagnetic Radiation to Ordnance), HERP (to Personnel), and HERF (to Fuel).
- Coordinate with program offices, test labs, and contractors to ensure test strategies align with overall program objectives.
- Design and oversee test schedules, resource allocation, and risk mitigation strategies throughout the hardware lifecycle.
- Author, review, and submit detailed test plans, test reports, and data deliverables for government review and approval.
- Monitor instrumentation setups, ensure configuration control, and maintain accurate documentation during testing activities.
- Ensure all testing activities maintain traceability to system requirements and contractual obligations.
- Participate in technical drawing reviews to verify compliance with requirements.
- Lead efforts in Failure Analysis and Corrective Action Reporting (FRACAS) as necessary to resolve issues and improve processes.
- Conduct and facilitate Pre-Test and Post-Test Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs), and Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs).
- Prepare and transmit deliverable data and documentation packages (CDRLs) as required by the contract.
- Develop and track verification items to ensure all requirements are satisfied through rigorous testing.

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or a closely related technical field.
- Minimum of five years of direct experience in military hardware testing, with demonstrated application of MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461 protocols.
- Deep understanding of environmental qualification testing methods, including temperature, vibration, humidity, shock, and altitude assessments.
- Proven expertise in EMI/EMC testing methodologies, including emissions and susceptibility testing procedures.
- Proficiency in test instrumentation such as strain gauges, accelerometers, thermocouples, electromagnetic compatibility antennas, and data acquisition systems.
- Knowledge of uncertainty analysis relevant to test data and reporting.
- Familiarity with military acceptance criteria, procurement regulations, and working in government test laboratories.
- Strong skills in using test documentation tools and adhering to established standards.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills for leading multidisciplinary teams and communicating with government representatives.
- Ability and willingness to travel as required by program needs.
- U.S. citizenship and successful completion of a background check.
- Eligibility for Department of Defense security clearance.
- Experience with Army or Marine Corps platforms, such as vehicles or communication systems, is highly desirable.
- Background or exposure to quality assurance, systems engineering, or production test environments is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to innovate, quickly learn new concepts, and communicate complex information effectively.
- Proven track record of working independently with minimal supervision, exercising sound judgment and decision-making skills.
- Experience leading engineering teams through product maturation phases and regularly interfacing with government customers.
- This role is performed in a combination of office, laboratory, and field environments.
- The position is expected to be performed only in Alabama, providing the opportunity to contribute to key defense projects in the state.
