Structured Cabling Engineer Job Overview
IDR is seeking a Structured Cabling Engineer to join our client team in New York on a full-time basis. This position is ideal for professionals with extensive experience in overseeing and managing telecom structured cabling projects. As a Structured Cabling Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of new construction and refurbishment projects while maintaining compliance with industry standards. Working within a collaborative, team-oriented environment, you will have the opportunity to contribute your technical expertise and leadership skills to a large, established organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage structured cabling projects for telecommunication systems, including both new builds and renovations, ensuring all activities align with technical requirements and project timelines.
- Conduct comprehensive site surveys with construction teams to accurately document the placement and specifications of telecom infrastructure.
- Coordinate and lead meetings between multidisciplinary teams to facilitate project reviews and ensure clear communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Maintain strict adherence to industry codes and standards, including BICSI, TIA, and GTI, to guarantee the quality, safety, and compliance of all cabling installations.
- Monitor project progress, troubleshoot technical issues, and implement solutions to maintain efficiency and effectiveness in project execution.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience managing structured cabling projects for telecom infrastructure, with a solid track record of delivering projects on schedule and within specification.
- Strong knowledge of BICSI, TIA, and GTI codes and cabling standards, with the ability to interpret and apply these standards in various environments.
- Proven ability to conduct thorough site surveys alongside construction teams, ensuring accurate documentation and coordination of infrastructure placement.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills, with a focus on team collaboration and project coordination.
