Staff Accountant Job Overview
We are actively seeking a detail-oriented and driven Staff Accountant to join our team on a full-time basis. The Staff Accountant plays a pivotal role in supporting the financial operations of the organization by performing fee calculations, preparing journal entries, and reconciling balance sheets. Professionals with at least one year of relevant accounting experience who excel in data analysis and process improvement will thrive in this dynamic and collaborative work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately perform fee calculations, review splits, and conduct volume allowance quality control (VA QC) to support financial accuracy and compliance.
- Prepare and record journal entries for both routine and non-routine financial transactions to maintain up-to-date and precise general ledger records.
- Review, analyze, and document new Member contracts and amendments, working closely with cross-functional teams such as Onboarding, Account Managers, and Member Experiences to ensure timely and accurate incentive payouts and accounting.
- Collaborate with Capital Assets and Finance teams to establish intangible capital assets and manage their amortization in accordance with Member contracts.
- Process accounts payable (AP) invoices and handle manual invoice requests as part of regular financial operations.
- Conduct both routine and ad hoc research on Member revenue data, documenting findings for management and audit purposes.
- Reconcile assigned balance sheet general ledger accounts and analyze variances, ensuring accurate reporting and financial integrity.
- Efficiently manage the general accounting inbox, responding promptly and professionally to all internal and external inquiries.
- Deliver excellent customer service to both internal and external clients through clear, comprehensive, and courteous communication.
- Continuously review and evaluate current processes, seeking opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Participate in special projects and contribute to broader financial initiatives as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of accounting experience required, with exposure to month-end close processes, complex accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Demonstrated ability to manipulate and analyze large datasets, leveraging advanced Excel skills (including pivot tables, lookups, sumifs, and match formulas).
- Solid foundation in basic accounting principles and practices.
- Familiarity with SAP, Supply Chain, and Power BI is preferred.
- Previous experience working for a large company (over $3 billion in sales) is an advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, enabling effective collaboration across teams.
- Proven ability to deliver results, work collaboratively, and maintain a customer-focused approach.
- Ability to perform well under pressure, meeting deadlines and maintaining accuracy.
- CPA candidate status is considered a plus.
