SQL Data Engineer Job Overview
ARC Group is seeking an experienced SQL Data Engineer for a contract position with a strong possibility of extension or conversion to a full-time role. This position is based in Jacksonville, FL, utilizing a hybrid work model. The SQL Data Engineer will be responsible for the development, programming, and coding of Information Technology solutions, with a focus on enabling enterprise Customer Experience applications. This role also involves maintaining documentation, conducting unit tests, performing peer code reviews, and supporting the evaluation and performance testing of purchased products. The ideal candidate will be committed to upholding IT controls to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of applications and data processed or output by the system.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, program, and code innovative IT solutions using Python and SQL for enterprise applications.
- Document systems thoroughly, ensuring all relevant procedures and protocols are captured and maintained.
- Conduct unit tests and participate in peer code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to best practices.
- Maintain and support internally developed applications, collaborating with the team for continuous improvement.
- Evaluate and perform performance testing of third-party products as required.
- Implement IT controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of applications and their data.
- Apply knowledge of the systems development life cycle to all stages of project work.
- Participate in the development and scheduling of batch processes and the processing of batch files using Python.
- Design, develop, and maintain RESTful API services, leveraging a strong understanding of REST architecture and Python programming.
- Evaluate various libraries and technical solutions, providing recommendations to meet business and technical requirements.
- Work effectively with large data sets, applying advanced SQL scripting and querying techniques.
- Utilize standard desktop applications, including the Microsoft Suite and flowcharting tools such as Visio, for documentation and workflow management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Five or more years of professional experience in technical design and coding within the IT industry.
- Proficiency with UNIX or Linux shell scripting.
- Advanced skills in SQL scripting and querying, with experience in large-scale data analysis.
- Hands-on experience with database platforms such as MySQL, Oracle DB, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, dBase, and MS Access.
- Working knowledge of PySpark and the Hadoop environment.
- Excellent understanding of RESTful architecture and demonstrated experience in developing REST APIs using Python.
- Experience with processing and scheduling batch files and processes using Python.
- Demonstrated organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated technical curiosity and a willingness to learn, including process and data flow analysis.
