Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) for a full-time role in Fort Myers, FL, for the upcoming 2025-26 school year. The anticipated start date for this full-time Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) position is August 11th. As a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), you will be an integral member of a multidisciplinary team, supporting students with a variety of communication needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Screen students for a range of communicative disorders, identifying those in need of further assessment or intervention.
- Utilize a variety of assessment procedures, techniques, and standardized tests to ensure thorough and accurate diagnosis of speech and language disorders.
- Conduct comprehensive triennial assessments to monitor progress and adjust intervention plans accordingly.
- Assess and provide referrals for preschool-aged children exhibiting communicative disorders, collaborating with caregivers and educational staff as appropriate.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs and goals within the school setting.
- Participate actively in school site teams, contributing expertise to multidisciplinary discussions and decision-making processes regarding speech-language services.
- Maintain thorough documentation and records in accordance with school and legal requirements, ensuring confidentiality and compliance at all times.
- Support the generalization of communication skills across educational environments through collaboration with teachers, staff, and families.
- Perform all other Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) duties as assigned by the school administration or special education department.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an accredited Speech-Language Pathology program.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or eligibility to obtain this certification.
- Current or eligible Speech-Language Pathologist license in the state of Florida or eligibility for Clinical Fellowship (CFY).
- Background and experience in areas such as language disorders, speech sound disorders, and autism spectrum disorders.
- Experience working with school-aged students in educational settings.
- Familiarity with school systems, including the development and implementation of IEPs, use of web-based IEP programs, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams is preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, and techniques of speech-language therapy.
