Sous Chef Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Sous Chef to contribute to the ongoing success of our casual dining restaurant. As a Sous Chef, you will be responsible for upholding exceptional standards of culinary quality, supporting the kitchen team, and working closely with the Executive Chef to deliver outstanding food experiences for our guests. Key Responsibilities
- Culinary Excellence: Consistently ensure that every dish meets the highest expectations for taste, presentation, and overall quality.
- Kitchen Management: Oversee the daily operation of the kitchen, including food preparation, cooking, and plating. Supervise kitchen staff to maintain efficient workflow, strict adherence to recipes, and compliance with all health and safety regulations.
- Team Leadership: Lead, guide, and mentor kitchen staff, including chefs, line cooks, and prep cooks. Promote a collaborative and positive work culture, supporting creativity and a shared passion for culinary achievement.
- Food Cost and Inventory Control: Monitor inventory, help minimize waste, and enforce effective portion control. Work closely with the Executive Chef and management to uphold robust inventory management systems.
- Quality Control: Focus on quality assurance throughout kitchen operations. Conduct regular inspections for food storage, handling, and cleanliness, implementing corrective actions as necessary to maintain top sanitation and hygiene standards.
- Staff Training and Development: Support the ongoing training and professional growth of kitchen staff. Conduct instructional sessions on cooking techniques, plating, and recipe adherence to continually raise team standards.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie in an upscale or fine dining restaurant setting.
- Strong culinary skills, with a comprehensive understanding of fine dining cuisine.
- Proven leadership and team management abilities within a professional kitchen.
- Creativity, with a strong drive for culinary innovation and excellence.
- Thorough knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Capacity to perform effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the full-time schedule.
