About the Role
The Sous Chef works closely with the Head Chef, assisting in all aspects of kitchen management and daily operations. You will be responsible for supervising kitchen staff, ensuring food quality and presentation meet our high standards, and managing inventory and food costs. The Sous Chef will also take a leadership role in the absence of the Head Chef, ensuring a seamless operation and consistent guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in overseeing all daily kitchen activities and operations, maintaining a smooth workflow throughout each shift.
- Lead, train, and supervise the kitchen team to foster high performance, morale, and a collaborative work environment.
- Maintain exceptional standards of food preparation, taste, and presentation to consistently deliver an outstanding dining experience.
- Monitor and control inventory, manage food ordering and storage, and ensure optimal stock levels are maintained.
- Uphold rigorous sanitation and food safety protocols, ensuring compliance with health regulations and cleanliness at all times.
- Collaborate with the Head Chef on menu development, recipe creation, and plating design to keep offerings innovative and appealing.
- Track and manage food costs, implement effective portion control systems, and minimize waste to support overall profitability.
- Assume leadership responsibilities in the Head Chef’s absence, ensuring operational continuity and consistent kitchen standards.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of professional kitchen experience, including at least 1 year in a leadership or sous chef position.
- Preferred: Culinary degree or equivalent professional certification.
- Comprehensive understanding of kitchen operations, food safety standards, and best practices in food handling.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills essential for managing a diverse kitchen team.
- Proven ability to perform efficiently and remain composed under pressure in a high-volume kitchen environment.
- Demonstrated passion for culinary excellence, creativity, and teamwork.
