Snowflake Data Engineer Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Snowflake Data Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis in Austin, TX. As a Snowflake Data Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data solutions within the Snowflake Data Cloud platform. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to build robust data pipelines, optimize storage and processing, and support analytics and business intelligence initiatives for a leading healthcare organization. Key Responsibilities
- Snowflake Architecture & Development
- Design and implement Snowflake data warehouses, databases, and schemas to meet organizational requirements.
- Develop ETL/ELT pipelines for efficient data ingestion, transformation, and loading into Snowflake.
- Optimize virtual warehouses, storage, and query performance to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Data Integration & Pipeline Management
- Integrate data from diverse sources including APIs, databases, and cloud storage into Snowflake.
- Utilize Snowpipe, Snowflake Tasks, Streams, and Stored Procedures to automate data workflows.
- Work with tools such as Kafka, Spark, Airflow, or Fivetran for real-time and batch data processing.
- Performance Tuning & Optimization
- Monitor, analyze, and optimize query performance through clustering, partitioning, and use of materialized views.
- Implement advanced features such as data sharing, zero-copy cloning, and time travel for data management.
- Manage resources effectively, including warehouse sizing, auto-suspend features, and scaling practices.
- Security & Governance
- Configure Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and enforce data security policies to meet compliance standards.
- Ensure data masking, encryption, and compliance with GDPR and HIPAA regulations.
- Implement data lineage tracking and metadata management for transparency and governance.
- Collaboration & Analytics Enablement
- Partner with data analysts, data scientists, and business intelligence teams to deliver clean and structured data sets.
- Support seamless integration of Snowflake with BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and Looker.
- Document data models, pipeline designs, and best practices for ongoing knowledge sharing and improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in data engineering, with at least 3 years focused on Snowflake architecture, SQL, stored procedures, and UDFs.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, or Java for complex data transformations and pipeline development.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and familiarity with data lakes like S3 and ADLS.
- Strong knowledge of data modeling concepts, including star schema and snowflake schema designs.
- Experience with CI/CD, Git, and DevOps practices specifically for data pipelines and workflow automation.

- SnowPro Core Certification
- SnowPro Advanced: Data Engineer Certification
- AWS, Azure, or GCP Data Engineering Certifications
