The Senior Project Manager – Construction (PM) plays a pivotal leadership role in the successful execution of commercial construction projects. This full-time position, based in Los Angeles, CA, is responsible for overseeing all phases of project management to ensure compliance with safety, quality, schedule, and budgetary requirements while upholding the highest standards of client service. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the management and administration of commercial construction projects, ensuring adherence to project metrics such as schedule, budget, safety, and quality standards.
- Supervise all aspects of the preconstruction process, including estimate preparation, review, and subcontractor meetings, collaborating closely with the Preconstruction team.
- Oversee job set-up, project kickoff meetings, and closeout processes, ensuring seamless communication and clear role definitions among team members, owners, and design teams.
- Champion a jobsite culture of safety, maintaining comprehensive knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety Program (ESHP), Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), and SIP Program, and ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Manage project financials, including original budget set-up, monthly payment applications, financial reporting, and tracking of subcontractor change orders, to maintain project profitability and support corporate finance goals.
- Develop and maintain the project master schedule using scheduling software platforms such as Primavera P6, and apply systems like the Last Planner System (LPS) for optimal project flow.
- Implement quality management protocols in alignment with contract requirements, and oversee submittal coordination, BIM management, and resolution of field quality issues.
- Interpret and apply owner agreements, regional labor agreements, and Project Labor Agreements (PLA) as required, ensuring contractual compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Foster and grow business development relationships with owners, architects, subcontractors, and consultants to build a strong network for future opportunities in Los Angeles, CA.
- Provide mentorship, leadership, and training to project managers, engineers, and team members, encouraging collaboration, communication, and professional growth.
- Participate in regional meetings, safety events, and career path training activities as a leader and role model within the organization.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills to resolve complex construction process issues and coordinate effectively with all stakeholders.
- Consistently deliver high-quality results, exhibiting dependability, diligence, and resourcefulness in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors to support the overall success of the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- 12 or more years of experience in construction project management or a closely related area is required.
- Comprehensive experience in all disciplines of construction (civil, structural, architectural, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing) is highly valued.
- Demonstrated expertise managing large commercial projects, with experience in sectors such as healthcare, higher education, corporate campuses, justice, and science & technology considered a plus.
- Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously to meet critical deadlines.
- Strong judgment, technical aptitude, leadership skills, and the capacity to collaborate on problem-solving strategies.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, particularly Excel, and working knowledge of construction management software such as Procore is preferred.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
