Senior Mechanical Project Manager Position Overview
The Senior Mechanical Project Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of mechanical construction projects, including HVAC, plumbing, and process system installations. This full-time role is vital in ensuring that projects are managed efficiently, on schedule, and within budget. The Senior Mechanical Project Manager serves as the primary point of contact for clients and is tasked with maintaining strong business relationships, facilitating project communication, and ensuring successful project outcomes. This position is based in Pasadena, CA, a vibrant hub for the construction and engineering industry, offering a dynamic environment for professional growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the single source of responsibility for clients throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring their needs are met and expectations exceeded.
- Lead all project management functions, including concept engineering, estimating, proposal development, and facilitating meetings necessary for successful project completion.
- Manage contracts encompassing sales, estimating, procurement, and execution, ensuring compliance and operational excellence.
- Coordinate and oversee field labor and installation sequencing in collaboration with field leadership to maintain project efficiency and safety.
- Prepare and monitor project budgets, forecast costs, and control expenses within established limits.
- Develop and maintain written documentation such as proposals, contracts, memos, and change orders to support sound business practices and legal protection.
- Supervise and mentor Project Engineers and Project Coordinators, fostering a culture of teamwork and professional development.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including clients, vendors, subcontractors, and industry partners, as well as internal departments such as Engineering, Purchasing, Accounting, Construction, and Service.
- Participate in special committees and studies to enhance organizational technical capabilities in engineering, planning, estimating, and installation procedures.
- Ensure clear and effective communication with management, department heads, and project teams, including leading and attending project management, sales, and construction meetings.
- Coordinate and conduct pre-construction meetings to align all departments on project objectives and timelines.
- Utilize and coordinate internal resources, assigning staff as necessary to achieve project vision and meet customer requirements.
- Support department initiatives by mentoring, recruiting, training, and coaching sales and project staff.
- Undertake additional duties and assignments as directed by upper management to accomplish organizational goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in estimating, design, or management of HVAC projects, ranging from $50,000 to over $100 million in value.
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently, facilitating objectives as outlined by supervisors.
- Proven integrity and a commitment to ethical business practices.
- Experience developing new business and building a client base in the mechanical construction sector.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and project management skills with the ability to handle a high volume of complex issues simultaneously.
- Active involvement in industry or community-based organizations is encouraged.

Physical Requirements
