Senior Electrical Engineer, PE Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer, PE to join our team on a full-time basis. This opportunity is ideal for a professional who is passionate about leading the design and execution of federal, port, and infrastructure projects, particularly in Long Beach, CA. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, PE, you will play a vital role in overseeing electrical engineering projects from concept through construction, ensuring that all aspects meet regulatory, client, and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the electrical design process for federal, port, and infrastructure projects, providing technical direction and guidance to teams of design engineers.
- Oversee and perform quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) on electrical engineering projects, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and standards, including the National Electrical Code and local regulations.
- Conduct field surveys to gather data for the design of electrical systems and prepare detailed site assessment reports as part of pre-design engineering activities.
- Develop electrical schematic designs, power single line diagrams, riser diagrams, and perform calculations such as arc flash, coordination, short circuit, voltage drop, and load flow using tools like ETAP and SKM.
- Design both low voltage and medium voltage infrastructure, applying CAD/BIM standards and utilizing software such as AutoCAD and Revit.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, plumbing, telecom, civil, structural, and architectural professionals, to ensure seamless project integration.
- Manage multiple large-scale projects, demonstrating strong project management skills and the ability to coordinate with other senior engineers and sub-consultants.
- Mentor and support the development of emerging professionals within the engineering team.
- Independently prepare project proposals and contribute to business development activities with both new and existing clients.
- Administer construction phase services, including reviewing and responding to requests for information (RFIs), equipment submittals, and conducting punch walks with associated reporting.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
- A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on federal, port, or infrastructure design projects.
- Proficiency in using AutoCAD, ETAP/SKM, and Revit for electrical system design and documentation.
- In-depth knowledge of the National Electrical Code; familiarity with California state codes and energy standards is preferred.
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills, with the ability to manage complex project documentation.
- Demonstrated self-motivation, attention to detail, analytical skills, and the capacity to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Unified Facilities Criteria and California state codes is desirable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
