Senior Accountant

TRC Talent Solutions is partnering with a respected structural engineering firm in Atlanta, GA, to hire a Senior Project Accountant for a direct hire opportunity! This Accountant will serve as a strategic financial partner to project and operational teams, overseeing project accounting functions including billing, revenue recognition, profitability analysis, financial reporting, and contract administration.

This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in project financial management by partnering with Project Managers, Operations, and Accounting leadership to ensure projects remain financially sound from initiation through completion.

Responsibilities:
Partner with Project Managers and Operations teams to manage project financial performance.
Oversee project accounting functions including revenue recognition, billing, invoicing, contract modifications, profitability analysis, and financial reporting.
Serve as the subject matter expert for project accounting processes and provide guidance to Project Managers and cross-functional teams.
Review contracts and proposals to ensure accurate financial setup, billing terms, revenue recognition methodologies, retainage requirements, and contractual compliance.
Support the setup of new projects, including project structures, task creation, labor allocations, billing schedules, revenue methods, and reporting attributes within Acumatica.
Monitor project budgets, labor utilization, contract values, change orders, committed costs, and overall profitability.
Prepare and review client billings including progress invoices, time-and-material invoices, fixed-fee billings, pay applications, and other project-related billing documentation.
Support monthly revenue recognition activities, including percent-complete calculations, earned revenue analysis, deferred revenue review, and work-in-process (WIP) reporting.

Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of project accounting experience within the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry.
Strong understanding of project accounting principles, including revenue recognition, WIP reporting, project billing, and profitability analysis.
Experience reviewing contracts, managing project financials, and supporting project lifecycle accounting.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookup functions, formula creation, and financial analysis.
Experience utilizing project accounting and financial management software.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
