The SEC Reporting Accountant, CPA is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of all U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings, including 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K reports. This full-time role is crucial for maintaining the integrity of financial reporting within the organization and requires a thorough understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and all relevant SEC regulations. The position involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams such as Finance, Legal, and Investor Relations to deliver precise and compliant financial disclosures. Key Responsibilities
- SEC Reporting:
- Prepare and review SEC filings, including 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with all SEC regulations and U.S. GAAP.
- Assist in drafting financial statements, footnotes, Management Discussion & Analysis (MD&A), and additional report sections as required for SEC submissions.
- Coordinate with external auditors during both quarterly and annual reviews to ensure timely and accurate filings.
- Monitor evolving SEC regulations and accounting standards, implementing necessary updates in financial reporting.
- Technical Accounting:
- Research and analyze complex accounting issues, providing actionable guidance on technical matters.
- Draft technical accounting memos to formally document the company’s positions on complicated accounting topics.
- Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Assist in maintaining and improving internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR).
- Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements and support both internal and external audit processes.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with Finance, Legal, Investor Relations, and other departments to ensure consistency and accuracy in financial disclosures.
- Support management and various stakeholders with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting needs.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of financial reporting processes.
- Contribute to the adoption and integration of new financial systems and tools as necessary.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is strongly preferred, enhancing credibility and technical expertise in this SEC Reporting Accountant, CPA role.
- Experience:
- 4-6 years of professional accounting experience, including a minimum of 2 years in SEC reporting, ideally within a public company or a Big 4 public accounting firm.
- Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, and financial reporting requirements.
- Experience with XBRL tagging and electronic SEC filing processes is advantageous.
- Skills:
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, essential for resolving complex accounting issues within the SEC Reporting Accountant, CPA function.
