Restaurant General Manager (GM) Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced and motivated Restaurant General Manager (GM) to join our fast-casual restaurant team on a full-time basis in Madison. The Restaurant General Manager (GM) plays a crucial role in overseeing daily restaurant operations, delivering exceptional guest service, and ensuring a positive dining experience for every customer. As the leader of the restaurant, the Restaurant General Manager (GM) will be responsible for inspiring and guiding the team, maintaining high standards, and supporting ongoing business success in Madison.
Key Responsibilities- Guest Experience: Ensure every guest receives exceptional customer service and a memorable dining experience. Address customer inquiries, feedback, and concerns promptly and professionally.
- Operational Oversight: Manage daily restaurant operations, including opening and closing procedures, staff scheduling, and maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout the establishment.
- Team Leadership: Lead, support, and motivate both front-of-house and back-of-house staff members, such as hosts, servers, bartenders, and kitchen crew. Foster a positive work environment focused on teamwork, training, and development.
- Staff Supervision: Supervise and coordinate the activities of restaurant staff to ensure efficiency, adherence to quality standards, and excellent service delivery. Provide coaching, guidance, and support to enhance staff performance.
- Inventory and Ordering: Monitor inventory levels, conduct regular inventory counts, and place orders with suppliers as needed. Ensure proper storage, rotation, and management of food and beverage items.
- Quality Control: Uphold high standards of food quality, presentation, and service. Conduct ongoing inspections to ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations, as well as established restaurant procedures.
- Sales and Revenue: Support sales initiatives to drive revenue growth, including upselling menu items and implementing promotional strategies.
- Financial Management: Assist with cash handling procedures, reconcile daily sales, and prepare deposits. Contribute to monitoring and controlling expenses to achieve financial targets.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure the restaurant adheres to all health and safety regulations, including food handling, workplace safety, and sanitation requirements. Maintain accurate records and compliance documentation.
- At least 5 years of experience as a Restaurant General Manager (GM) in the food service industry, preferably in a fast-casual environment.
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
- Proven leadership abilities to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
- Comprehensive understanding of restaurant operations and service standards.
- Experience with POS systems and restaurant management software.
- Knowledge of inventory management and cost control best practices.
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment and work effectively under pressure.
