Restaurant General Manager Job Description
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Restaurant General Manager to oversee the daily operations of our upscale, growing restaurant. As a Restaurant General Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the seamless functioning of the restaurant by managing staff, delivering an exceptional guest experience, maintaining operational standards, and optimizing financial performance. This full-time leadership position is ideal for individuals with a strong background in hospitality management and a passion for providing outstanding service in a high-volume, fine dining environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership and Management: Recruit, train, and supervise both front-of-house and back-of-house staff. Promote a positive work culture focused on teamwork, professionalism, and excellence. Conduct performance reviews, provide coaching, and support staff development through regular feedback and training initiatives.
- Guest Experience Management: Ensure that high standards of hospitality and service are consistently met. Actively engage with guests, gather feedback, and address concerns or issues promptly to guarantee guest satisfaction. Maintain visibility on the restaurant floor, particularly during peak hours, to oversee operations and enhance the overall dining experience.
- Operational Oversight and Compliance: Supervise all aspects of restaurant operations, including service flow, reservations, and special events. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and licensing regulations. Manage vendor relationships and monitor inventory to uphold quality standards and cost efficiency.
- Financial Management: Develop and oversee budgets, monitor labor costs, and manage P&L statements. Implement strategies to drive revenue and control operational costs without compromising quality. Regularly review financial performance data and prepare reports for ownership or senior management.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in restaurant management within a high-volume, upscale, or fine dining setting.
- Comprehensive knowledge of food, wine, and beverage service.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and manage diverse teams effectively.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with point-of-sale (POS) systems and restaurant management software.
- Flexible schedule, with availability during evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by operational needs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management or a related field is preferred, though not required.
