Quality Manager Job Overview
The Quality Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of quality control and assurance across all project phases. As a Full-time professional based in Carlsbad, CA, the Quality Manager is responsible for leading and supporting a variety of quality control activities in accordance with company standards, site-specific quality management plans, and approved contract documents. This role is ideal for individuals with substantial government and military project experience, particularly those familiar with USACE (United States Army Corps of Engineers) and NAVFAC (Navy Facilities Engineering Systems Command) requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the corporate quality control program, company standards, procedures, and relevant building codes necessary for effective job performance.
- Collaborate with project teams to develop and implement project-specific plans, such as the Water+Min5 plan, ensuring all quality requirements are addressed.
- Review, comment on, and coordinate with the Division Quality Manager to secure approval of trade partner project-specific quality control plans.
- Perform detailed inspections and witness critical tests to determine the acceptability of work according to discipline-specific criteria.
- Maintain accurate work performance records, inspection documentation, and other related reports to ensure document correctness and traceability.
- Work closely with the Project Manager and Site Superintendent to manage the site quality program and provide effective solutions to address non-compliant items.
- Assist in the preparation and implementation of the quality control program, including developing procedures, inspection instructions, and the control of measurement and testing equipment.
- Participate actively in both internal and external quality control audits to ensure compliance with established standards.
- Review purchase and submittal documents to confirm compliance with all quality control requirements.
- Assist in resolving reported project non-conformance issues promptly and effectively.
- Monitor subcontractor work to ensure adherence to company standards, procedures, and building codes as applicable.
- Ensure timely and effective implementation of corrective measures whenever necessary to maintain project quality.
- Complete additional responsibilities and tasks as assigned by project leadership.
- Assist in and document commissioning processes to confirm systems and components are designed, installed, tested, and maintained according to operational requirements.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in quality management, particularly on government or military projects involving USACE or NAVFAC standards, is highly valuable.
- Strong understanding of quality control principles, construction practices, and relevant building codes.
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills with attention to detail in maintaining records and reports.
- Ability to work collaboratively with various teams and stakeholders to achieve project quality objectives.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to implement effective solutions to non-conformance or quality issues.
