Openwork is seeking a highly motivated Quality Assurance Technician (QA Technician, Food Safety) to join our team. This position is an essential role within our food manufacturing operations, directly contributing to consumer safety by ensuring that all fermented produce meets company, customer, and regulatory standards. As a Quality Assurance Technician, you will play a crucial part in monitoring and maintaining food safety and product quality, working hands-on in a production environment that requires attention to detail and a commitment to safety protocols.
As a Quality Assurance Technician, you will be responsible for conducting a variety of food safety and quality tests, monitoring Critical Control Points (CCPs) and Critical Quality Points (CQPs), and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and company requirements. This role is not limited to laboratory work; you will be actively involved in the production area, exposed to strong odors and brine, and required to perform extensive walking and physical activities throughout your shift. Your responsibilities will directly impact the quality and safety of products such as pickles, relish, jalapeƱos, and yellow peppers, making your role vital to the success of our operations.
In this position, you will follow established procedures for food safety testing, including frequent pH level checks, temperature monitoring, and sensory evaluations. You will accurately record and maintain all testing data, ensuring full compliance with state and governing agency requirements. Collaboration with production staff, management, and auditors is a key part of this role, ensuring that all quality assurance standards are met and maintained.
To succeed as a Quality Assurance Technician, you must have a stable work history, demonstrate strong reliability, and possess excellent attention to detail. Basic math skills, strong reading comprehension, and the ability to precisely follow directions are mandatory. You should also be comfortable using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and able to adapt to varying environmental temperatures. Previous experience in food handling or packaging, as well as analytical skills, are advantageous but not required.
