Project Engineer – Construction Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Project Engineer – Construction for a full-time position based in Long Beach, CA. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about advancing their careers in the commercial construction industry and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. The Project Engineer – Construction will play a vital role in supporting project management efforts, ensuring successful project delivery, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety throughout all phases of construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage submittals and Requests for Information (RFIs) to ensure accurate and timely communication between project stakeholders.
- Review incoming submittals for completeness and accuracy prior to submission to the project owner.
- Update and maintain project baseline schedules as well as weekly progress reports to track milestones and deliverables.
- Assist in the development and management of work plans, including pre-planning and post-project review processes.
- Perform quantity take-offs, support the preparation of project proposals, and process submittals and RFIs as needed.
- Participate actively in project safety initiatives and adhere to all safety protocols on-site.
- Interpret and understand engineering, architectural, and construction drawings to ensure project goals are met.
- Demonstrate knowledge of construction methods, materials, and relevant regulations to ensure compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Utilize various software applications, including job costing and reporting tools, online collaboration platforms, scheduling software, and estimating programs.
- Create or assist in preparing weekly meeting agendas to facilitate clear communication among project teams.
- Assist in the management of environmental permits and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Maintain comprehensive project document control systems to ensure effective tracking and accessibility of all project records.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a closely related field, or a recognized Construction Management Certification.
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills, with an emphasis on collaboration and proactive problem-solving.
- Proficiency with Procore, Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project, and Bluebeam is preferred.
