Project Accountant Job Overview
TriStarr is currently seeking a skilled Project Accountant to join our client’s team in Manheim, PA, for a full-time role. This position is essential in managing the financial operations of various projects and collaborating closely with project managers and stakeholders. As a Project Accountant, you will be responsible for ensuring that project budgets are accurately maintained, expenses are thoroughly tracked, and financial objectives are consistently met. Your efforts will support project profitability, compliance with contractual requirements, and overall project success.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive financial oversight and guidance for assigned projects to ensure fiscal integrity and alignment with organizational goals.
- Prepare, monitor, and adjust project budgets to reflect actual performance and evolving project needs.
- Generate detailed financial reports analyzing project profitability, costs, and revenue to support decision-making and strategic planning.
- Track all project expenses, ensuring alignment within established budgets and identifying variances as they arise.
- Collaborate with project managers to identify and implement cost reduction opportunities while maintaining project quality.
- Ensure accurate and timely invoicing and billing processes based on project milestones or time and materials agreements.
- Monitor compliance with project contracts, including scope, deliverables, and any specific contractual obligations.
- Participate actively in project meetings to provide financial updates, insights, and strategic advice to project teams and leadership.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks associated with projects, recommending proactive solutions to minimize impact.
- Suggest and implement improvements to accounting processes in order to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Assist with internal and external audits, maintaining robust internal controls to ensure financial accuracy and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications
- Experience in cost accounting is desirable, providing valuable insight into project financial management.
- Strong understanding of financial statements, general ledger functions, and month/year-end close procedures.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are preferred, supporting detailed financial analysis and reporting.
Skills Required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration and reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting, database, spreadsheet, and word processing software for daily operations.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable recommendations.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to regularly sit, occasionally stand, and lift up to 10 pounds as needed.
- Visual requirements include close vision and peripheral vision necessary for computer work and document review.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or an equivalent field is required; CPA certification is considered a plus.
- A minimum of two years of accounting experience, either in accounting operations or audit, is essential.
